After losing the ability to produce a special 10-disc limited edition Marvel box set by not getting a proper license to manufacture a specific brand of briefcase, Marvel’s Phase One box set is now back — briefcase and all.

As reported at Variety (via Comic Book Resources), it looks like the stars have really aligned for Marvel’s Cinematic U: the writer/director of the 3rd highest grossing film of all time, Joss Whedon, will stay for Avengers 2. Not only that, but it looks like Whedon is going to help develop Marvel’s new television show, a show whose existence has been rumored since SDCC that would deal with the same universe as their films.

Remember that one comic, “Shield” by Jonathan Hickman and Dustin Weaver? Yeah? That was awesome…
But it has been missing for some time. In fact, it has been seven months since #4 of the second volume of the series has come out, and despite being one of the best things Hickman has done at Marvel (if not possibly the best, what with Dustin Weaver’s FANTASTIC Celestial-filled artwork) we’ve seen neither heads nor tails of it since. Over the weekend at SDCC, Marvel announced (among other things) a new Point One book all about Marvel Now!, their relaunch that’s not a reboot initiative. It’ll feature several authors and artists collaborating on what looks to be six stories of characters who will be important in the Post-”AvX” landscape, including Nick Fury Jr…

The folks over at CBR reported live from Joe Quesada’s Cup ‘O Joe panel at SDCC to give us a taste of what’s to come in the aftermath of “Avenger Vs. X-Men”. Joining Quesada was Marvel’s head of telelvision Jeph Loeb, SVP of Creator and Content Development C. B. Cebulski, Director of Communications Arune Singh and editor-in-chief Axel Alonso to answer audience questions about the upcoming changes to the Marvel universe…
We’d reported that Marvel was putting together an epic “Phase 1″ box set timed for the release of Avengers on DVD and Blu-ray, but today Marvel gave us a look inside the box — and holy jeez. If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic U, I hope you’ve got some money saved up.

In a teaser sent out promoting the upcoming Cup O’ Joe Panel at SDCC (where more Marvel Now! titles will assumedly be revealed), it has also been shown that Marvel is preparing to roll out a slew of new Point Ones to go along with it.
